Systematic Review of EISs

Download Print Send a summary of this page to someone via email.

These are key references related to the systematic review of environmental impact statements (EISs) or environmental assessments (EAs). To provide a basis for review, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations promulgated by the Council on Environmental Quality are included. Four examples of review checklists are included (one used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for reviewing EISs, two by the U.S. Department of Energy -- one for EISs and one for EAs, and one developed by the European Commission for EISs). Since the USEPA is a key review agency, their stated policies and procedures are also included. Finally, the reviews of two special topics are addressed -- one relates to social impact assessment (a report by an Interorganizational Committee is included), and the other to environmental justice (two USEPA documents and one CEQ document are included).
